‘CAN’T BUY ME LOVE’ DIRECTOR MAE CRUZ-ALVIAR SEES DONBELLE CAPABLE OF STANDALONE PROJECTS IN THE FUTURE

Director Mae Cruz-Alviar, despite acknowledging their youth, commended the growth of actors Donny Pangilinan and Belle Mariano in ‘Can’t Buy Me Love,’ suggesting they’re poised for standalone projects in the future.

“As in the scenes they have done…kasi they have done a lot of romantic films, series, and now, they’ve gone beyond romance. They have gone beyond that and I can say that after this, they can already do like individual projects,” remarked Alviar during the press conference for the show’s finale.

Mariano and Pangilinan embraced roles far removed from their previous ones, showcasing their versatility. Mariano portrayed a stoic yet powerful character, while Pangilinan embodied a commoner enamored with a wealthy woman.

Both actors delivered stellar performances, breathing life into their respective characters, as noted by Cruz-Alviar. She observed their growth not only as a love team but also as individual actors.

“Because they can step up, they can level up, and they have leveled up already in this show. I’m just so proud of how they have grown and I am excited to see more from them after this,” explained the director.

Pangilinan, in turn, expressed gratitude to the directors for providing them with the creative freedom to explore their characters. He emphasized the collaborative nature of the production, which enabled them to delve deeper into their roles.

“Kasi it’s my first time to ever work with her. I’m just so happy siya ‘yung piniling director nito and she accepted this project because we were able to grow and were given that space to really go past our comfort zone and do things that we didn’t know even we can do,” shared Pangilinan.

As ‘Can’t Buy Me Love’ approaches its conclusion, audiences can catch the remaining episodes on ABS-CBN’s Primetime Bida or stream them in advance on Netflix.
